“art ark” a collaboration of five diligent, creative, energetic, artists, each with a varied practice have put together work for an exhibition at the Victoria quays. situated at the sheffield canal basin. This will run from the 11th-15th march 10-5 pm. Each Piece will be on display using two narrow boats, donated by owner and marine manager Gordon lambert. With intimacy of the venue we will have a closing nigh that will consist of a marque with the possibility of a guest of honor, painter j. Scarborough.

In Art a relationship co-exists between space and image. As both are seen as objective objects, the common fundamental relations of these are sciences and aesthetics. This then leads you to venue with the environmental components of any given place. Size and location whether urban, landscape even in an architectural enclosure, can be used as the overall image. This shows it as an objectal piece. Therefore does space create the image or does image create the space?

My Artist statement Richard Magson

“Theories are patterns without value. What counts is action” Constantin Brancusi.

While I investigating the potential of material, or a process, with an exploration of transforming images within my imagination transferring these to paper or any other material canvases, struck me as unique and magical, with a mythical feeling.
Over the years, that magical process has led me from once source of medium and exploring another, this gives me a sense of accomplishment and an intellectual integrity providing me with the necessary tools to show my inner vision to an outer creative reality.
Though I work intuitively with a randomness of thought I consciously employ traditional and innovative techniques. My imagination provides many opportunities for a happy accident with a grace to influence an outcome. This leads to inspiration while invigorating a renewed sense of continuity, in addition, awed by the mystery of how creation occurs.
Drawing and Painting are prominent feature in my work, I explore new ideas on how to, or experiment the use different mediums. Therefore my practice has the basics of drawing but leads to sculptures or paintings.
My works consists of a cultural upbringing and awareness “beauty is within nature of all things”. Reflecting I enjoy learning new cultures this gives me the freedom to abstract from life’s influences. In order to expand my thoughts, I like to explore with feeling and investigate emotions like that of poetry.
